Remember the Split-Window Volkswagen Microbus? Back in the sixties those things were all over the place. It was a vehicle that defined a generation. In those days everyone had a Bus or knew someone who had one, simply for the ability of that little rolling icon to give the driver memories that could not be collected while driving any other vehicle. The memories of those times are still there, but most of the Busses are gone. An exception is the Bus in this book. It's a '62 bought used in '66, and is still used. It's seen some miles. It's been totaled twice, on fire three times, and dropped through lake ice once. It's been hit from behind, hit on both sides, hit with rocks, rolled, flipped from one side to the other, and has slid on its side and on its top and on places in between. But mostly it's been on its wheels, wheels rolling north, south, east and west, through all the states of the Confederacy, most of the states in the Union, and every province in Canada.
