"Tell us where we can find your accomplices," the voice said in a gravelly tone, "and all of this will go away!"
Ron's mind raced even faster at that proclamation because he knew with absolute certainty that it was not going to go away. No matter what he said or how much he confessed, this was what they loved…a helpless soul at the mercy of animals.
At that instant, the lights flashed on and he got a glimpse of his predicament. The entire cage was covered with rats!
Tortured and abused in every way imaginable, Ron finds a way to escape, but only barely. At the edge of death, he is rescued by a family of farmers and nursed back to health, even though they risk certain horrible death to do it. Ron grows close to his saviors, especially one named Josylinia, but when he happens across the location of his betrayer, his bestial side sends him back into danger to seek revenge. His humanity rides on a razor edge as he fights through his dark urges and the real truth of his situation nearly sends him back into madness.
