A Short History of Some Early Residents of the Northern Penobscot Bay

This chapbook gathers together a small but useful collection of materials relating to the early history of Northport, ME and the northern reaches of Penobscot Bay. The pages that follow bring together a brief account of the Waldo Patent, short biographical sketches of several prominent early Northport residents, and a reorganized transcription of surviving marriage and death records associated with Northport from 1799 to 1906.

This is not intended as a complete history. Rather, it is a modest contribution for readers interested in the people, families, and local institutions that helped shape this corner of coastal Maine. In assembling these materials, we have tried to preserve the character of the original sources while arranging them in a form that may be more useful to modern readers. Where the historical record is fragmentary, inconsistent, or incomplete, those limitations have been left visible.
