This short story tells the true tale of the author's 1995 visit to White Bird Battlefield Nez Perce National Historical Park in Idaho. It is in the vicinity of the Salmon River, also known as The River of No Return. The visit took place in the same year as the first Ameritrek, the subject of the main book, Discovering America the Beautiful.
