Irvin S. Cobb is a writer of the so-called Southern Tradition. This book is his first volume of Judge Priest stories. The voice of the book is not politically correct for our times. Cobb's ancestors were on the Right Side of the War Between the States, and he recalls his childhood spent listening to the tales of veterans of Forrest and Morgan's cavalry.
