Mbuso, a young man from the township called Hammarsdale, is battling low self esteem. He is not doing well in his school studies, and though musically he is extremely talented, with an angelic voice that is able to heal, he is too shy to use his gift. More than anything, Mbuso's dream is to be a better man than his father who abandoned him and his two sisters. He starts dating Sthandwa, and she helps him regain some confidence and start believing in himself.
Things change when Mbuso signs a record deal with a big music label, and he is forced to sacrifice some of his closest people on his way to the top.
As Mbuso's fame grows, the more he changes—first toward Sthandwa, and then to his family. He is becoming the same kind of man as his father. Mbuso tries to start his own company, but he loses everything—including his new friends. He is forced to return to those people he turned his back on.
But things aren't the same as Mbuso left them, and he struggles to accept a new reality. Mbuso takes a difficult and drastic decision—putting his own life and the lives of his loved ones in extreme danger, with little chance of survival.
