Chronic: A Sick Person Writes is dedicated to everyone living with a chronic condition. There are more of us than one might imagine. We just don't make a lot of noise about it.
There are many books about overcoming adversity. This is not one of them. There are far fewer books that simply say, "This is what living with chronic illness is really like." This is one of them, and it is a perspective you may appreciate because it is genuine rather than an attempt to be artificially inspirational for the sake of selling books. In other words, this is not a book about overcoming illness; it's a book of essays, and some poetry, about living while illness remains.
If you have a chronic condition, you may find the book informative, enlightening, and even a tad enjoyable at times (although there is nothing enjoyable about having a chronic condition). Healthy readers who have a spouse, parent, sibling, friend, patient, or client with a chronic condition could also benefit from reading it.
