Count Me In! is a unique and uniquely beautiful book of numbers that is full of wonder. Here, the counting starts out very specific (one egg; two ears), then opens into more abstract and poetic quantities of things (so many bubbles; a field of crickets) to inspire a young reader's questions and imagination. How do you count a horse's gallops or many breezes? On some pages the reader can point and count. At other times the illustrations challenge the reader to imagine what isn't visible.

Inspired by her own baby’s first year, Viegas Oliveira shows children and their adults the discovery of a world as it is—sometimes with many crashes of lightning and skinned knees, but also with candles on a birthday cake and the safety of home—all the while seeing the fullness in everything.
