Economic Nakbas of Palestine traces the major catastrophes - Nakbas - that have shaped Palestinian history from the early twentieth century under the British occupation to the Gaza War of October 2023. The book discusses three central questions: How did we get here? How do we identify the present situation? Where do we go from here? Bringing together archival material, historical analysis, and contemporary economic data, the book explains the structural forces that produced today's economic landscape. The author, Maher El-Kurd, born in Jerusalem, has served as advisor to President Yasser Arafat, Deputy Minister of National Economy at the Palestinian Authority, and later as Head of the Social Sciences Department and the Political Science Program at Al Quds Bard College, Al Quds University.
