Elfie has a secret: she's a witch! And when she writes in her special notebook, magic comes to life. No one else can know, but that can sometimes cause trouble for her, her two sister Louette and Magda, and their bookshop-cum-London bus, as they travel around France . . .
In the first story in this collection (Elfie's fourth adventure) Elfie and her sisters have arrived in the Pyrenees to vist their Grand-Pé, a mountain shepherd. But the girls are immediately worried about him. He doesn't seem to be upset about their mother having died - maybe he's getting confused?
But Elfie has another mystery to solve. She discovers her grandma was a knitting witch, and more importantly, that she knitted clues into blankets that only Elfie can see. Clues that could lead her to a fabulous treasure . . . so long as Elfie uses her magic to find it . . .
In Elfie's fifth adventure, she is invited to attend a grand Walpurgis Night celebration, on take place on an island in the Marais Poitevin - a beautiful area of western France known as 'the Venice of France'. And for once, during this very special festival hosted by witches and wizards, Magda and Louette will be allowed into Elfie's world of magic!
Caught up in the wonderful events, Elfie doesn't immediately realise there is danger threatening this place - and those she loves. Discovering spells and paper dragons they conjure, she knows she'll need all the help she can get to face the terrible situation. Fortunately, in the heart of the marsh there's Mélusine, a guardian fairy - who just looks just like Elfie's mother…
