I'm not sure if this will break me.

Being attracted to my employer isn't a smart plan, but it's not like I anticipated how endearing and oddly captivating Lance Thomas could be.

Unfortunately, I'm nowhere closer to paying off Grandpa's rent or feeling confident about the singing competition I'm entering.

Fortunately, I'm treated to a whole new experience of Lance doting on me, kissing me until I'm lost under his spell, and excited to play house.

He's busier than usual, away for work and still obligated to prove to his mother that he will settle down and start a family soon. It almost feels like we are one, the both of us unable to keep our hands off each other and accidentally adopting the cutest puppy.

Nothing seems wise about caving to our attraction, but it feels too good to resist. When he dares to ask me to come to a family party with him though, I have to wonder if my heart can handle being broken by the things that hold us apart.

Lance

I'm certain she could fix me.

Making a move on Sophie might be my smartest decision or worst mistake, but riding it out with her more than just "fun" like she claims. Nothing has changed about my mother's mandate to grow up and settle with a wife.

Unfortunately, Sophie seems like the only woman I want to be compatible with, hungry for her touches and addicted to her laughter.

Fortunately, she's willing to meet me in the middle while we hide our relationship from the prying eyes of my mother and aunt.

Nothing lasting can come from keeping Sophie a secret, but as I consider standing up to my mother and telling her to go ahead and cut me off, I can't ruin Sophie's chances of keeping her job. When she suggests waiting until the end of the summer, I find myself thinking about how I don't want her to go at all when she's so good at filling that missing piece in my soul.
