There is a hunger that does not begin in the stomach. It arrives all at once, after an argument, at the end of a long day or on a night that is too quiet, and it asks for something sweet, something salty, something intense. It is not a lack of willpower: it is a learned answer to an emptiness that does not yet have a name.
This first book goes through twenty-five subjects and keeps two ways of looking open at the same time. Psychology describes what can be observed: emptiness, loneliness, stress, boredom, loss, and also cues, hours, algorithms and advertising. Spirituality asks about meaning. Neither takes the place of the other, and what is interpretation is never presented as fact.
Every chapter follows the same fourteen points: what happens inside, how to reconstruct an episode, three tools you can use tonight, one resolved case from start to finish, a practice sheet of your own, and a reference table that says where every claim comes from.
The last chapters mark the limit: when self-observation stops being enough and a professional assessment is needed. That point is not a failure of the reader and not a failure of the book. It is information.
The book does not promise to take the impulse away. It teaches you to know it well enough to stop following it without noticing.
