Neither life nor disease exists in a vacuum; both emerge and evolve within specific environmental contexts. Environmental pollution on Earth has reached the very limits of human survival! Drawing on my background in medical education and my research experience at top-tier institutions—such as the Houston Medical Center and the University of California, San Diego Medical Center—and having participated in and witnessed numerous large-scale modern medical experiments, I am acutely aware of the pivotal role environmental pollutants play in human disease and physiology.
Microplastic pollution is non-biodegradable and shows a particular affinity for the human brain and placenta; nanoplastic pollution poses reproductive risks; there is a strong link between airborne particulate matter and lung cancer; the long-term consumption of artificial beverages drives obesity in children and adolescents; drinking bottled mineral water over the long term does more harm than good; ultra-processed foods jeopardize health; and people are constantly exposed to a host of little-known carcinogens. Speaking from my experience as a researcher in modern medical science, I raise this urgent cry: environmental pollution is strangling humanity—to ensure our survival, we must put an end to it without delay!
