Found Dead

Found Dead by Fred M. White is about washed-up novelist of the grimmest tales Sir John Mortmain, who refers to himself as Stevenson-cum-Edgar Allan Poe. Mortmain's friend one day finds a dead burglar lying on his living room tiles, and is presented with a mystery and an opportunity. Excerpt: "Sir John Mortmain turned over the Sunday papers idly in search of some item of possible interest. It was one of those perfect mornings at the end of June, without the semblance of a cloud in the sky and the warm, languid air that conduces to sleepiness."
