So much can be said about our desperate need for Christian unity. It is a universal truth that unity strengthens while division weakens. The Bible clearly states the need for unity, but the church often ignores these inconvenient truths. The result is a fractured body that struggles to fulfill its mission in this lost world.
One great challenge is that unity is not simple. Issues such as sound doctrine and godly lifestyle mean a lot; we simply cannot abandon them to pursue a kind of nebulous oneness. Our unity finds its roots in the new covenant, and it is through that covenant that trust is established and relationships flourish. As our Christian relationships flourish, the kingdom of God advances.
