AUTHOR'S NOTE

I have spent fifty difficult years uncovering the true history of humanity. Most of this work dealt with the origins, migrations, and deep prehistory of who we are and how we have arrived at this point in time.

This book is different. This book is about the one subject I have encountered repeatedly over the last 5,500 years, which I could never fully explain until I stopped viewing it as history and began to see it as psychology.

I did not intend to write about billionaires, bunkers, or artificial intelligence. I wanted to understand the source of the mental illness, the delusion that leads a person to believe they have the right to control or destroy other people. This belief is not only irrational but also extremely hypocritical, as a human would abhor it if another person exercised control over their own life or the lives of their loved ones.

What I found while tracing this thought virus back over five thousand years is the decision of a single mind, repeated in every century since, each time clothed in a new language when it reappears.

I also wrote this book because I feel compelled to clearly reveal the path of this plague and how we once prevented or eradicated it.

This book will demand much from you. It will ask you to consider the health, happiness, and fate of our species without the tribal lies that distract us and pit us against each other, wasting the natural fuel of our frustrations while reducing our numbers. It will ask you to see yourself first as a human being, not as a color, place, or thing.

I have done my best to earn this request from you chapter by chapter with evidence rather than claims. Where the evidence ends, I have said so. Where it does not end, I have not softened it for the comfort of anyone, including my own.

I do not write this from outside the problem I describe. I was born and raised within the system that is naturally the home I love. However, I also write as someone who has experienced the worst direct effects of arrogance firsthand, and in my family lines that stretch back hundreds of years.

I have also observed how easily good evidence is ignored when the story people prefer is more convenient than the one supported by the evidence. That is the real subject of the book. I hope you will read it as I have tried to write it, ready to hear something you did not want to hear. Why?

Because the alternative has already cost us in our daily lives far more than we realize, at least 310,000 years of human freedom. And will ultimately, and I say this not for shock value but because it is factually true, as we have seen this plague of arrogance spread first in the invasions of Europe, Asia, and the Americas, then in two world wars, leaving the next and final phase: human annihilation.
