Religion could not possess Rosa. She found physical human connection at church, among familiar and similar people. But, she could not think like them. She searched history for truth and connected with the lives of real people. Inside the church, it was public knowledge that predatorial men had hunted, stalked, captured and sexually assaulted children. Inside the church, Rosa connected with Derricke. His energy was like the center of gravity. He was irresistible, gregarious and friendly. But inside Derricke were hidden unhealed, raw wounds.
Rosa understood that Apex predators in the wild do not cease to hunt. She knew from history that human apex predators act no differently. Both see their prey. Then the hunt begins. They stalk until they use their strength to demobilize and tear the prey apart, from the inside to the outside. Derricke's father lured him into a sports arena where predators roamed. But like all apex predatorial humans, his father was void of empathy and compassion. Derricke remained the prey with the imperial sports cult, until they destroyed him on the inside.
Rosa was captured in the church. She escaped the barbarity of the imperial spirit that possessed Derricke. She walked inside and outside of the ornate black iron gates of the Colonial District where the regime of Colonialism seized people under its dominion. She trusted no religion. She knew Imperial dominance was achieved by physical violence. The unchallenged supremacy of the regime's Organization failed to seize her dignity.
