Commander Isabella Jones AO is unquestionably one of Australia's most famous fictional women. Her exploits while serving with the Australian Federal Police are well documented, as is her rapid rise through the ranks of that organisation, reaching the rank of Inspector before turning thirty. Two of her cases have been turned into page-turning yarns that at times get close to crossing the boundaries of credibility. Rumours suggest one may soon be the subject of a Netflix movie, with a mini-series to follow. All of these accounts are accurate according to those who know Jones well. If anything, they understate the qualities for which she is so widely admired. Her courage literally under fire. Her never-give-up attitude. Her respect for the law. Her fundamental Australian-ness.

But what of Isabella Jones the person? We know about what she has done and what she has achieved – for herself and for the nation. But what about the woman behind the name? How and why did she become the woman she is?
Based on a series of interviews with Isabella Jones herself, this book sets out to provide some answers. Isabella's life is of course a work in progress, and the final chapter – possibly the one many will turn to first! – is not the end of her story.
