April can't wait for her annual summer vacation with her family. This year it's in Massachusetts at a rental cottage only steps from the beach. Except shortly before it's time to leave, her friend, Elyse, who is starting yet another money-making venture, this one a singles' week, begs April to come so the male-female numbers will be equal. Despite the fact the trip is created for commitment-phobes and April's dream is to find The One and live happily ever after, she reluctantly agrees to attend, pretend she is against marriage, and support her friend. It's only for a week. She's sure she can be convincing. Until she meets Bret, who asks too many questions, is too charming, and is making it almost impossible for April to continue her charade.

Bret hears about the anti-commitment, anti-monogamous, anti-marriage, anti- whatever week from a colleague who has reserved himself a spot at some mansion by the sea, and he thinks his friend is off his rocker. Until he reads more about it and decides he can combine business with pleasure by attending and digging deep into just why people attend these things. He knows he'll be able to observe the shenanigans from afar and write an article he can make some money on. What he doesn't expect is finding a woman like April Taylor there. Or finding himself neck-deep in the shenanigans.
