Teachers and classmates make him feel like the word "dunce" is a sentence, not a temporary misunderstanding. When his mother brings him to America, Jahson enters another world with new rules. He faces immigration, loneliness, financial instability, rent notices, cultural confusion, and the pressure to become something more than what others predicted.
