When their San Antonio layover hotel is overbooked, stewardesses Patty Byrne and Donna Reynolds get shipped to Sagebrush Creek, Texas—a rough cattle town packed with rowdy ranchers and cowboys who settle disputes with their fists.
After the cattle auctioneer, Ronald Bartlett, turns up dead at the bottom of the hotel's back stairwell, the local sheriff calls it an accident. But Patty notices some things about the crime scene that don't add up, turning the unfortunate accident into a murder. Unable to leave town, Patty and Donna are stranded with a hotel full of suspects.
With FBI agent Bill Hart racing down from Dallas to help and danger coming at them at every turn, Patty must find the killer before they strike again.
