Understanding the nature of water spirits, the greedy circus owner and his peculiar assistant devise a cunning plan to capture the Nyx.

When they're all swept into the past, shades of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream arise, as the beautiful Kriemhild, wife of Siegfried, drinks a potion and falls in love with Ratzel, giant rat and best friend of salamander goblin Krogg. Meanwhile, a camp of Romans and Attila the Hun (Etzel) prepare to invade the Burgundian stronghold.
