This book is about my novel Nadia.
I published this novel in the spring of 2015.
By this time, I had written three psychological thrillers. Nadia is my fourth and final one.
I first conceived Nadia in 1982. I was seventeen and had just begun art school. Thirty-tree years later, I would write it in a novel.
The story seemed to bear no relevance to my life at all. A woman is thrust into a nightmare after a celebrity walkabout with a billionaire. Meanwhile, her author has a job, family, and a house.
During the writing, I felt geared, prompted by a force. I had believed this to be routine writer's itch, but a year after completion, a scene within would open my eyes to something horrific about me.
This 'novel' is not what I thought at all. Another novel hides beneath this one; two novels in one. I could not see this under-novel at all and is nothing like the story of my intention.
Five years after beginning Nadia, I am ready to analyse it.
I have been through this process three times already with my previous novels. All have been harrowing and all have given up hard truths.
As this is a true story, I have provided diary entries as part of this account and illustrations to convey the intensity of my inner world.
