Abstract
Diabetes mellitus remains one of the most significant global health challenges, affecting more than 500 million people worldwide. Despite major advances in treatment, diabetes continues to be associated with cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, blindness, neuropathy, and premature mortality. Recent scientific developments have accelerated progress toward more effective treatments, personalized therapies, and potential diseasemodifying interventions. This review summarizes major advances in diabetes research reported during 2025–2026, including novel pharmacological therapies, stem-cell-based approaches, immunotherapy, artificial intelligence applications, continuous glucose monitoring technologies, genetic discoveries, and emerging concepts in precision medicine. These developments are transforming diabetes care from simple glucose management toward individualized treatment and potential biological restoration of pancreatic function.
