Orton Gillingham Decodable Stories Level 5: Nate and His Pet Duck is a structured decodable reader designed for developing readers practising phonics through the Orton Gillingham approach.
This Level 5 story provides focused practice with magic e words in which the silent e makes the preceding vowel long. Readers practise the patterns a_e, i_e, and o_e, along with dge as in ledge and the Drop Silent e Rule when adding ed, as in dive to dived.
Carefully controlled text helps children apply previously learned phonics skills while developing accurate decoding, fluency, confidence, and reading independence.

About the Story
Nate and his pet duck head to the lake to cool off, but their swim takes an unexpected turn when they spot a snake.
After leaving the lake, Nate and the duck go on a hike, find bugs near a ledge, and take a bike ride past a gate and a hive. When they get stung, they rush back to the cold lake before ending their busy day with a snack on the sand.
This lively adventure helps developing readers practise controlled decoding while building fluency, confidence, and comprehension.
