Orton-Gillingham Decodable Stories Level 6: The School Trip is a structured decodable reader designed for developing readers learning through the Orton-Gillingham approach.
This Level 6 story builds on short vowel words, magic e words, digraphs, consonant blends, suffixes, and two-syllable words. It provides focused practice with r-controlled vowels ar, or, er, ir, and ur, the vowel team ee, both sounds of oo, and more complex beginning blends such as thr.
Examples include farm, term, horses, birds, burp, green, three, sheep, goose, woods, and food.
Carefully controlled text helps children apply previously learned phonics skills while building accurate decoding, fluency, confidence, and reading independence.

About the Story
A grade three class rides a green bus to a farm for an end-of-term school trip. The children visit the barn, see sheep, pigs, horses, chickens, and rabbits, and feed some of the animals.
They run through a maze, wake a sleeping goose, eat lunch at the park, and take a short hike in the woods. After a full day of activities, the children ride back to school and fall asleep on the bus.
The simple sequence of events helps developing readers follow the story while practising controlled decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
