Cole Whitmore knows the railway tracks outside Briarwood have been abandoned for decades.

So when the sound of a train whistle cuts through the fog one night, he knows something is wrong.

Then the Midnight Train arrives.

Drawn toward its flickering lights, Cole steps aboard and immediately realizes he has made a terrible mistake. The passengers sit silently in the shadows. Some have no faces. Others look as though they have been dead for years. And the mysterious conductor seems to have been expecting him.

The conductor has other plans.

There is a price for riding the Midnight Train, and it isn't paid with money. To escape, Cole must solve the mystery of a broken pocket watch before the train reaches its final destination. But each car brings him deeper into a world of shifting reflections, restless spirits, buried memories, and terrifying glimpses of what may be waiting for him at the end of the line.

As the clock ticks closer to midnight, Cole begins to understand that the train doesn't choose its passengers at random. Everyone aboard is carrying something from the past, and the Midnight Train knows exactly what Cole has been trying to leave behind.

If he cannot uncover the truth in time, he may never return to Briarwood.
