Ffej watched Sasha for a bit, working up his nerve. He was keenly aware of the heat, physical and metaphorical, emanating from the boy next to him.
"I thought straight boys liked to watch gay girls kiss." Madam Thorn sounded impatient.
Quickly, so he couldn't second-guess himself, Ffej turned and mashed his lips against Steve's.
From the corner of his eye, he saw Carly glue her face to Sasha's clumsily. Challenging him.
So, Ffej kissed Steve like he'd kiss a girl. He caught Steve's upper lip between his and tugged gently. He explored with the tip of his tongue. He cupped the back of the other boy's head in his palm.
But something was missing. He pulled away, just an inch or two, so he could mutter, "Kiss me back."
Steve's eyes lit up.
He pressed his lips against Ffej's. Ffej opened to the hot, slick pressure of Steve's tongue.
Ffej learned something surprising: At some physical level, a kiss was a kiss. And Steve was a really good kisser.
