Sarah sat up, pulling her dress back down, her hands trembling slightly. She needed a plan, a way to tell Lisa that wouldn't destroy everything. But how? How could she even begin to explain it?
She stood up, pacing the room, her mind racing again. And then, like a flash, it hit her. "I'll tell her the truth." The words slipped out before she could stop them, but as soon as she said them, she knew it was the only way. She'd tell Lisa everything, no matter how much it hurt. She'd face the consequences, whatever they were. And then, she would leave, without ever telling Michael about it, or tell either of them her new address.
She would have everything packed up, ready to leave. Or maybe, she would have everything packed and in the rented box truck already, ready to skip town as soon as she told Lisa the truth…
She stood in front of her bedroom mirror, looking at herself in all her naked, pregnant messiness. She smiled, touching the face of that woman in the mirror, thinking that she looked kind of cute, with just the right bit of mischief to stop her from being boring.
"Lisa," she whispered, practicing the words in her mind. "There's something I need to tell you."
