Witch Hill College takes pride in its adherence to the old fashioned methods of teaching. Strict discipline is the order of the day. After all, a young lady of nineteen or twenty needs discipline in her life to allow her to fully embrace the ways of modern society and to achieve a high level of success in life. The college's board of management uses this as a selling point—old ways are best, and so forth—and there is certainly no shortage of traditional minded parents who view the place as the ideal establishment to which to send their daughters for higher education.
Although the nuns of the adjoining Witch Hill Abbey do not serve an active role when it comes to the teaching of academic subjects in the college itself, they are, as spiritual benefactors, occasionally invited to assist with the moral guidance of the female students.
Sometimes, it has to be said, they can become a bit overzealous in their duties.
