In 1970, Roger Corman, the director of A Bucket of Blood (1959) and The Pit and the Pendulum (1961), launched his own film production-distribution company, New World Pictures. Over the next thirteen years, he would supervise the creation of more than one-hundred films, including revered cult classics like Caged Heat (1974), Hollywood Boulevard (1976) and The Slumber Party Massacre (1979).
