Hanus Neumann enjoys an idyllic childhood in western Czechoslovakia, until 1939 when the Nazi occupation shatters his family and, at age 18, he somehow manages an unlikely escape to America, where he begins a new life as Jack Neuman. What follows is an eventful life of unexpected turns and adventure. He returns to Europe, first to fight WWII with US Army Intelligence as one of the celebrated Ritchie Boys; and later as one of the first American private citizens to go behind the Iron Curtain. His life work then unfolds as a trailblazer in the emerging international travel business.
Jack's life ends tragically in his early 50s, without fully revealing his life story to those who knew and loved him. Now, almost a half century later that story is brought to life, revealed through an extensive collection of documents and photos that he inexplicably left behind.
