Since Homer's Coffee House opened in 2001, a lot of people have asked questions like how Homer's came to exist, who Homer was, or why we do things the way we do. The purpose of this book is to answer some of these questions. It is also intended to share a little bit of the vision and mission that is embodied in the coffeehouse.
I hope to communicate some ideas about spiritual gifts, skill, talent, and passion. I believe I was called by God to operate a Christian coffeehouse. That does not mean that I heard a voice in a thunderstorm or a stone tablet was handed down from heaven with instructions written on it. It only means that I was given a specific set of gifts, skills, and passions, and that I have had unique experiences that cause me to believe that this is what I need to be doing with my life at this time. I believe that each experience in life prepares us for the next. Perhaps you will be able to see more clearly from my experiences how Homer's Coffee House came to be.
We hope that this book will encourage our supporters, patrons, artists, performers, and staff. We also hope that it will be a benefit to others who wish to follow our path, seeking to become a light in their community.
