Both the hero and heroine are survivors of psychological and physical trauma. She's a victim of child abuse due to neglect, and was a victim of a house invasion and a rape. He was a victim of abuse from an overbearing father, deals with dyslexia, and witnessed domestic abuse. The heroine makes the difficult decision to grow marijuana to save her family farm after her husband dies from cancer. 

This book contains graphic scenes of sexual acts. There are also scenes of verbal abuse and of domestic violence between two supporting characters. 

If you find any of this objectionable or triggering, stay clear. However, with all this said, the book is healing and hopeful and depicts a positive, loving relationship between the heroine and her boyfriend, an FBI agent.
