Orla Ní Ríain has built her life around making things clear. As an interpreter, she knows the importance of being heard, understood and given the freedom to choose. Back in coastal Kerry to help her father recover and rebuild a life with fewer emergencies, she has one rule for herself: no more mistaking exhaustion for usefulness.

Then she meets Dara O'Shea.

Dara works with the harbour lights—the practical, weather-beaten systems that keep people safe when the sea turns difficult. He is steady, thoughtful and infuriatingly good at asking before stepping closer. He is also the father of Alva, a bright, fiercely capable girl whose world includes Irish Sign Language, star-covered ear defenders and absolutely no patience for adults making unnecessary drama.
