When Diane stops to help a husky wandering alone in a snowstorm, she doesn't expect the dog to lead her straight into trouble.
The husky belongs to Tom, a reclusive lumberjack who lives deep in the mountains and runs a dog sled team. When Diane finds him trapped beneath an overturned sled, injured and snowed in, she does what comes naturally: she helps.
With the storm closing in and Tom unable to travel alone, Diane follows the lead dog to his remote cabin, where she takes charge, tending his injury, caring for the dogs, and getting them both warm and safe for the night.
Tom isn't used to needing anyone. He prefers his solitude, his routines, and the quiet companionship of his dogs. But Diane's calm competence and steady presence chip away at his defenses, and the forced closeness of the storm brings unexpected warmth.
As the night deepens, shared vulnerability turns into something more intimate...something neither of them planned, but neither wants to walk away from.
By morning, the snow has cleared.
The road is open again.
But leaving isn't as simple as it should be.
