Caring for Capuchin monkeys is a lifelong commitment that goes far beyond the appeal of their playful charm. I write this book from personal experience and in support of our local sanctuary in South Africa, as my passion for these intelligent and complex animals has grown over many years.
The events, the stories, the re-homes, sadness and trauma got me to a point where I realize the need to get realistic information related to Capuchin as a pet out there, in the hope to prevent and or if nothing else reduce the trauma for both the monkeys and humans.
I am not a breeder and do not support the exotic animal trade—this guide is created to share knowledge, promote responsible decisions, care and raise funds to support our local sanctuary, based in South Africa: Capuchin and Exotic Animal Safe Heaven - CESH (NPO 210-908) with their approval and knowledge of the content written within this book.
Capuchin monkeys - or any monkey for that matter - are not ideal pets. They require specialized nutrition, enriched environments, emotional connection, and an understanding of their natural behaviors to truly thrive and for your safety. My goal is to give you honest, practical insights so you can make informed decisions and, if you already care for a Capuchin, provide the best possible life for them.
