My name is Stilbe, mother of both centaur and man, but I am better known by my formal title, the Oracle of Apollo, the God of Prophecy. I serve in Apollo's temple at Delphi. Generations of men have recounted the story of the battle between the children of my sons. Centauromachy, men call it, as if branding their opponent with villainy justifies their one-sided truth. Misunderstanding, fear and even hubris have exaggerated that perspective, for what is a hero without monsters to slay? Never before, in all my generations has the full story been told. What became of the centaur, the brother, the outcast? The truth of that battle is not complete without it. I tell that story now. It began with a vision of war.
