We come into this parenthesis of chaos that we call life. We do not sign any contract when we are born, yet we take upon ourselves the responsibility for our lives in a universe and a society whose laws we didn't choose. We live our lives as given, rarely questioning or thinking, even if no one prohibits us from doing so, and this may be the scariest part.
In these brief pages, you will find self-contained thoughts of a person who is taking small breaks in daily life, in order to think on the grand and the microscopic: the complex architecture of the human mind, the unmapped territory of religion and metaphysics, the friction of society and politics, and the quiet glitches of daily life.
This is a small book of curated collection of small, independent fragments— poems, sharp aphorisms, and brief, standalone quotes. They are like sudden glances out the window during a long, strange journey.
Often the routine cracks. A storm hits, a line of poetry makes sense, or the Richter scale reminds us exactly how small we are. The individual verses, poems, philosophical reflections, and aphorisms within this short collection are shorthand for those cracks in the routine. Because they are independent pieces, you can open to any page, capture a single thought, and sit with it.
Some of these words may make you notice situations and thoughts that you ignored before; others may seem obvious. You may find yourself agreeing, or you may find yourself wanting to argue. Both reactions are welcome. In a world full of self-proclaimed experts charging fees to fix your life, I offer no solutions. I only offer a mirror.
It is a short read, but a long journey. Let's go on a trip.
