Studio KO stand among the most sought-after talents in contemporary architecture and interior design. The pair never followed a typical path, boldly launching their practice before finishing school. Their work quickly gained attention for minimalist architectures set in awe-inspiring landscapes and interiors grounded in history and culture, attracting an extraordinary circle of clients, from Andre Balazs, for his first European address in London, to Pierre Berge, who entrusted them with the landmark Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech, Morocco. Today, Studio KO are celebrated worldwide for a contemporary vernacular style that feels both radical and deeply rooted. This volume showcases nine projects, including the renovation of a traditional Moroccan house in Marrakech, villas on the French Mediterranean coast in Cassis and Corsica, Fournier and Marty s private apartment in Paris, the colorful Flamingo Estate in Los Angeles, or the famous Chiltern Firehouse in the epilogue. The atmospheric, bohemian photography of Francois Halard s creates a poetic dialogue with Studio KO s interiors. The result is an intimate book that reveals the essence of thier attitude: sophisticated spaces that blend minimal, graphic architectures with local cultural elements, creating environments that seem at once new and imbued with layers of history, brimming of subtle references to design lore and a great deal of respect for the spirit of the place they invest.
