Sample Book Insights: #1 The fact that mass shooters are usually someone we know, and could very well be us, makes them all the more difficult to stop. We have to change the narrative that these are monsters, and realize that they are just like us. #2 The definition of a mass shooting is any event in which four or more victims are murdered with guns in a public location. The death toll per shooting is also rising, and has been for years. #3 The media constantly reports on mass shootings, and the public grows numb to them. However, our fear of mass shootings is ever-present, as we have never known a world without them. #4 The lockdown drills are especially troubling. The more we participate in these routines, the more they become part of our identity and the harder it becomes to break them. But we must break this one.
