We last only about fifteen seconds, and then our minds are off on a tangent. We catch ourselves and try to pray, but we can’t because our prayer antennae are badly damaged. #2 We have a prayer list, but praying through the list gets tedious and nothing seems to happen. The list becomes long and cumbersome, and we lose touch with many of the needs. #3 American culture is the hardest place in the world to pray. We are so busy that when we slow down to pray, we find it uncomfortable. We prize accomplishments, production, and intellect. We can do life without God, and praying seems unnecessary. #4 Prayer is odd. We are talking to air when we pray, and we don’t know how or when a spirit will show up.
