Based on real-life facts embellished with the Tomkins, a fictional English family. When they started their pre-booked holiday in Istanbul, they had no idea a military coup would occur. The first they knew was the sound of low flying planes and the rattle of automatic gunfire. A breaking television news announcement said a military-backed coup was underway. When informed planes had dropped bombs in Ankara, with tanks outside the Parliament building, the family feared for their lives. Their fears increased when an announcer said tanks guarded the main bridges over the Bosphorus, and Istanbul airport closed. With no flights out, the family have no choice but to stay in Turkey and hope for the best.
