The Bugs are on Earth to make sure humanity doesn't kill the planet. See, the humans have tremendous power. Their creative potential is infinite. However, due to the laws of nature and what not, that also means their destructive potential is also infinite.
Since planet Earth can harbor such a lifeform, the planet itself must be protected from them.
Enter The Bugs.
Should humanity show signs of irreversibly killing Earth, The Bugs will exterminate everyone and start over with a fresh batch of people (thanks to the DNA collected by mosquitoes). They've done it before. That's what happened to Atlantis.
Tied up with The Bugs is Jack Telda. An executive at a global agriculture company, Jack's life has taken a turn for the worse. Ants are going to kill him if he doesn't help change how his company does business. Hopefully, along the way, Jack will also change himself.
Meanwhile, there's Joelle Velstar. She's a recent college grad, living in her small hometown, and is bummed she's squandering her potential. Lucky for her, a group of (at times) benevolent Queen Bees hijack her consciousness. In doing so, they give Joelle access to their 6D sense of the world. What the Queen Bees want is simple, really. With her newfound sixth dimensional lens, all Joelle has to do is help the bees elevate humanity's collective conscience. If she can't do that, time will run out for this batch of humans and The Bugs will kill everyone.
