Thirteen-year-old Isabelle expects to find little more than dusty boxes when she sneaks into her grandfather's forbidden attic. Instead, she discovers an extraordinary antique brass telescope covered in mysterious symbols.

Her grandfather calls it The Watcher.

And it doesn't show her the stars.

Through its lens, Isabelle sees places she recognizes, but everything is slightly wrong. Her neighborhood is empty. Her school has changed. And in each strange reality, another version of Isabelle is waiting.

At first, the glimpses are impossible to resist. Some versions of her life seem better than the one she knows. Others are darker. But when reflections begin moving on their own and shadowy figures appear where they shouldn't, Isabelle realizes she isn't simply observing these other worlds.

They're observing her too.

With the help of her grandfather and clues left behind by her father, Isabelle begins uncovering the history of The Watcher and its connection to her family. Every glimpse through the lens has weakened the boundary between realities, and something on the other side is getting closer.

Now Isabelle must find a way to close the doorway she opened before another version of herself crosses through and decides there is room for only one of them.
