Cackling, the Wraith rubbed its talon-like hands together, and said, "I'll be dreaming of you. Won't you dream of me?"
Fourteen hours after Troll's trinity left, Furion sieged the sleepy hamlet of Silverdale. Sarah and Anne managed to slip away just before the invasion but are seen and pursued by the king's legions. Troll, Myriam Star, and the Dog await their friends somewhere in the Western woods but inevitably head west into the desert.
Enter the glorious empire of Al'ber Que. A teeming metropolis governed by scandal and destitution. Once again, Troll's trinity is thrust amid something much larger than themselves. Pieces of the puzzle incipiently fit together, 'though each fragment of knowledge only spurs further questions. Once more, Troll fears impending invasion upon the empire like brooding storm clouds.
Troll concocts a plan to begin forming an army of his own. Unfortunately, his plot requires his trio to depart from one another. Isolated, each must accomplish a separate task to build a force large enough to rival the king's.
The Dog is sent down into the secret slave mines buried deep under the empire of Al'ber Que, to solve the "takings" of many of the city's denizens. Star is cast out into the desert on a mad quest. Meanwhile, Troll administers spies to infiltrate parliament.
Things quickly spin out of control for each member of the trio as they race to return to one another before the impossible descends – the epic tri-battle of Al'ber Que.
