It was a night of december 1982.it was about 2:15 a.m. i was not asleep.i lay on my back on bed with my eyes open in darkness as i had already extinguished my sooty lantern.we had no electricity.in the entire village only two people had it.Mr. Wambutu a prominent farmer and an immediate neighbour who also owned a blue peugeot 404 and another young man then an accountant who worked in government treasury in the city of Nairobi.bye the way his beautiful wife was my english teacher upper primary at Gaturiri primary school.before i wayward from the story, the previous day had been a coffee picking day and i was very tired.as i lay there ,i heard soft thudding footsteps outside.the timber window that was a foot or two above my headboard or headside rather.there was no head board.i got to know there were headboards when i came to Nairobi.i peered through a slit that was at the bottom of the window still from my lying position and against the silvery moonlight,i saw a very horrible looking silhoutte of a creature.it had unnaturally big bulbous eyes, long matty hair and very long eyelashes that resembled fingers.it hissed like a serpent and grunted like a pig.it looked through the slit and it inserted a blueish green glowing object semingly to poke at me.it seemed to me its like it hand night vision eyes.i ducked two times but it could see ecxactly where i was.it also shook my window violently.i thought that this creature must have had sneaked out from hell and why it had chose me as  its object of play i couldn't  tell.Uncle Lee.!! uncle Lee....i huskily shouted to my uncle for help but there was no answer.his house was just a pathway width from my shack.it was my late grandpa Jotham whose name i bear who came with his mukwanju.an L-shaped walking stick which was more an object of self defense than an aid to locomotion.......
