Miss Clara Wetherell has inherited Brambleford Hall.

Clara is certain there must be a way around it. A loophole. A forgotten letter. A legal mistake. Anything that will save her from sharing a roof with an arrogant duke and becoming the subject of every whisper in the county.
But Brambleford Hall has other plans.
Between leaking ceilings, suspicious noises, meddling servants, village gossip, and a duke who is far more difficult to dislike than he ought to be, Clara's search for escape begins to look dangerously like the beginning of something else.
