What really happened on Dave Whatsun's ill-fated camping trip?
Dave Whatsun and his new bride, Vivian, take a leave of absence from their jobs to go on the honeymoon trip of a lifetime; camping for the entire summer in Giant Mountain Reserve, a 40,000 acre forest in the Gray Hills region north of Port Metro.
Little do they know what secrets the forest holds in store for them.
They spend an idyllic summer camping and hiking in the backcountry. When the trip is near an end, they meet a fungus researcher, pointing him to some interesting fungi they spotted earlier in their travels.
They reconnect with an old school friend, before their happy honeymoon comes to a crashing end.
