The New Book of Tang (Xin Tang Shu) is a dynastic history of the Tang dynasty compiled by Song Qi and Ouyang Xiu under imperial commission during the Northern Song dynasty. It is one of the "Twenty-Four Histories" of China. Although both the Old Book of Tang (Jiu Tang Shu) and the New Book of Tang were originally titled simply Tang Shu ("Book of Tang"), the latter was soon distinguished by the prefix "New" to avoid confusion with the former. Compilation of the New Book of Tang took 17 years, and it was completed and printed in the fifth year of Emperor Renzong's Jiayou reign (1060).
